A message from the founder, Rachelle Campbell
ʻOhana’ - əˈhɑːnə - A Hawaiian term meaning "family", often used in an extended sense of the term, including blood-related, adoptive or intentional.
During times where feelings of anxiety, depression, and uncertainty permeate our consciousness, and the constant pressures of life make it difficult to realize our full potential, it’s more important than ever to deepen our connections with the earth, and discover the common threads that connect us all.
The transformative, healing powers of kava entered my life in 2008 while I was visiting the Big Island of Hawaii. I found myself searching for new experiences, and looking to find something meaningful and real.
I first experienced the magic of kava at the humble and beautiful Kanaka Kava bar in Kona, Hawaii. Each time I lifted the coconut shell to my lips, the slightly bitter, earthy aroma of the root elixir filled my senses, and waves of energetic warmth washed over me as I sipped the powerful herbal tea. I felt relaxed, comfortable, and balanced, yet energetic and slightly euphoric at the same time.
At that moment I knew this was a feeling that I wanted consistently in my life, and I felt a strong pull to share it with everyone I knew.
I immersed myself in learning everything I could about this special, healing root, and the owners of the kava bar and farm happily shared their wisdom with me. They passed on their tradition of the sacred offering ceremonies, as well as the process of brewing and preparing the powerful tea.
Before long I found myself creating my own tinctures so that I could easily take it with me wherever I went. After several years of sharing it with family and friends, it dawned on me that I was in the unique position to further share this magical feeling with the whole world.
I founded Ohana Kava in 2016 with the intent of providing access to this powerful, ancient plant medicine through traditional offering ceremonies, as well as new organic forms.
Since then, our line of all-natural, organic kava products is now continually growing as we experiment with different uses for this incredible herbal remedy. We now have topical balms, kava/CBD extracts, and even a new Fire Cider created in collaboration with reggae-dub artist Stick Figure.
People use kava with the intent of helping to remedy depression, anxiety, inflammation, pain, and even just to feel an energetic lift, or access a deeper sense of balance and clarity, in addition to many other things.
I’m honored to spend my days in the mountains of Santa Cruz hand-crafting our kava products, and traveling the world to share this wonderful plant with others. In everything we do, we aim to honor and respect the sacred lineage of kava, and we’re proud to donate a portion of our profits to organizations that help protect sacred land.
I bow to you in deep gratitude for exploring healthy, holistic ways to rekindle your mind, body and spirit, and encourage you to experience the magic of kava firsthand.
Thank you for being a part of my Ohana - please feel free to reach out to me directly to connect or ask any questions.
It’s humbling to share this special experience with you, and to watch as the impact of kava and our collective well-being creates a higher vibration we can all connect on.
All My Love,
Rachelle Campbell
